"Talent acquisition is a stratergy used in recruitment which fouces on finding, attracting, hiring, retaining, growing the top talents within an organization" (Andreev,2022).

The main objective of talent acquisition procedure is growing the talent pool of the organization for the success.

 Talent acquisition process usually involves the following steps;

  • Job analysis - Determination of the requirments of the position, qualifications and responsibilities.
  • Sourcing - Actively search for qualified candidates in deferent platforms.
  • Screeening - Review the applications and shortlist candidates who meet the requirments.
  • Interviewing - Conduct multiple interviews to review the skills, attributes and the cultural fit of the applicants.
  • Selection - Selecting the most suitable candidates by using the understanding of interviews.
  • Offer - Extend the job offer to the chosen candidate including job description, job title, compensation and starting date.
  • Onboarding - Conduct the orentation process in order to intergrate the new hire to the organization (IBM, 2024).

Talent Acquisition vs Recruitment

Eventhough talent acquisition and recruitment is considered as two sides of the same coin, they are two different terms in human resource management. Talent aquisition is a much broader construct than recruitment process. Basically recruitment is a part of talent acquisition.

  • Recruitment focuses on recruiting people into open position every here and now. As long as the candiate demonstrate the ability to meet the currently defined need of the organization, the recruitment process is complete.

  • Talent acquisition is focusing on having right people lined up to fill the open positions now or even in the future. They will subsequently groom for bigger and better roles within the organization ( Andreev, 2022).

Although there may be a sufficient pool of candidates, it can be challenging to find top talent for unfilled positions. It's also quite difficult to compete for that top talent unless your organization is among the elite in your niche. Whether you choose to hire top talent from within or outside the company, you must plan your strategy. Furthermore, this does not always include paying potential hires more to entice them to work for your company.

Strategic talent acquisition is a cornerstone of the plans of astute businesses and leaders, catering to present and future business requirements. Understanding the ―gaps‖ in relation to the skill sets required to achieve present and future performance needs is crucial before adding personnel or merely filling a vacancy. If not, you are only adding individuals who might or might not help the organization succeed. Managers can carry out a strategy to obtain the necessary skills and talent once a gap analysis has been completed and they have a clear understanding of their staffing needs, including the availability of talent.
